LAS VEGAS – The Society of Professional Journalists has recognized its chapter at William Paterson University as Outstanding Campus Chapter.
William Paterson University hosted 40 events focused on diversity, ethics, freedom of information and professional development. WPSPJ also launched what is believed to be the first podcast created by an SPJ campus chapter, which features interviews between with journalists who have been invited to campus or been shadowed members. The chapter also created the beta version of a digital archive where the public can access videos of their past educational events. It also contributed to the revitalization of the campus newspaper, the Beacon.
WPSPJ was one of six finalists for the Campus Chapter of the Year; the other finalists were University of Central Florida, Ohio University, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, University of La Verne and University of Arkansas.
