INDIANAPOLIS — Join the Society of Professional Journalists' Immediate Past President John Ensslin on Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. EST for a discussion about the Excellence in Journalism Convention in Southern California on August 24-26.

The guests for the half-hour Internet radio broadcast will be representatives from the organizations that helped assemble this year's convention. They include Dave Cuillier from SPJ, Chris Carl from the Radio Television and Digital News Association and Mekahlo Medina from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

EIJ 2013 will mark the first time that all three groups have combined to produce a joint national conference. The collaboration has produced some great programs, and the convention is expected to draw more than 1,000 journalists from around the country.

Carl, RTDNA's chairman elect, has been on the air at radio station WDEL in Wilmington, Del., since 1993. He was promoted to director of News & Programming in 2008. He also is managing editor of WDEL.com, the station's website.

Cuillier, SPJ's president-Elect, is director and associate professor at the University of Arizona School of Journalism, where he teaches computer-assisted reporting, public affairs reporting and access to public records.

Medina, NAHJ's vice-president, is the technology and social media reporter for NBC4 in Southern California. Prior to joining the station in 2006, he was a general assignment reports for television stations in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Albuquerque and El Paso.

Anyone wishing to call into the live broadcast with questions or comments can do so by dialing 347.857.2441.
