INDIANAPOLIS — The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) will once again partner with the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) at the annual Excellence in Journalism Conference in 2015 in Orlando, Fla.
SPJ, RTDNA and NAHJ boards voted to approve the partnership in December after hosting a successful Excellence in Journalism 2013 together in Anaheim, Calif. Great staff collaboration and outstanding feedback from conference attendees encouraged the three organizations to put on another conference for journalists to learn, network and discuss the industry with others in their profession.
“The National Association of Hispanc Journalists (NAHJ) is thrilled to join once again RTDNA and SPJ for a national conference,” said NAHJ President Hugo Balta. “EIJ13 exceeded our expectations. The quality and diversity of the many sessions were thought provoking and relevant to the continuing changing times journalists live in. I join the members of NAHJ in applauding the success of the collaborative venture.”
“We couldn’t be more excited that NAHJ is re-joining EIJ in Orlando,” said Chris Carl, chairman of RTDNA. “People who attended EIJ13 in Anaheim are still telling me how much they enjoyed the convention and the energy they found in the convention center and on our exhibit floor. It was truly a great partnership between our organizations, and we look forward to making EIJ15 an even bigger destination for all journalists.”
“We all saw the energy and electricity of all three groups meeting in Anaheim in 2013, and we look forward to another amazing gathering in 2015,” said SPJ president David Cuillier. “Collaboration means more sessions for more journalists, and expanded networking opportunities. I see a new era of journalism collaboration because we are much stronger united than on our own.”
Excellence in Journalism 2015 will be in Orlando, Fla., Sept. 18-20. SPJ and RTDNA are also teaming up to host Excellence in Journalism 2014 in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 4-6. This year’s NAHJ national conference will celebrate its 30th anniversary in San Antonio, Texas, Aug. 7-9.
