Call for entries for SDX, MOE and New America awards

INDIANAPOLIS—The Society of Professional Journalists is now accepting entries for three of its most prestigious annual awards programs – The Sigma Delta Chi Awards, Mark of Excellence Awards and the New America Award.

The Sigma Delta Chi Awards honor national excellence in print, radio, television, newsletters, photography, online and research. The awards program dates back to 1932 when the Society first honored six individuals for contributions to journalism. The contest is open to any work published or broadcast by a U.S. media outlet. Entries must have been published or broadcast during the 2015 calendar year. The deadline to submit entries is Feb. 5. Rules, requirements and other important information is are available online.

The Mark of Excellence Awards recognize exceptional work by student journalists in print, radio, television, photography and online. The contest is open to anyone enrolled in a college or university and studying for an academic degree in 2015. To be eligible, work must have been published or broadcast during the 2015 calendar year. The deadline to submit entries is Jan. 22. Rules, requirements and other important information is available online.

SPJ’s New America Award honors public service journalism that explores and exposes an issue of importance to immigrant or ethnic communities in the United States. Although not required, collaboration with ethnic media is taken into account. The deadline to submit entries is Feb. 19. Rules, requirements and other important information is are available online.
