INDIANAPOLIS — A 2018 case involving misappropriation of regional funds in Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 has been resolved, the SPJ Board of Directors announced today.
SPJ reached a settlement with the individual, who has agreed to pay back the full amount owed — $45,721.34. The individual has begun making payments.
To help avoid similar situations in the future, the national board adopted rules for regional accounts in April 2018. Later that year, the national board adopted similar rules for pro chapters and campus chapters. These rules have enhanced the organization’s accountability measures.
