INDIANAPOLIS – The Society of Professional Journalists annually honors select chapters for their commitment to SPJ’s mission and journalism. SPJ has named the finalists for its Pro Chapter of the Year Awards.

These finalists were chosen by SPJ’s 12 regional coordinators from the 2023 regional honorees.

Large Chapter of the Year is open to chapters with 75 members or more, while Small Chapter of the Year is open to chapters with fewer than 75 members.

The three finalists for the Large Chapter of the Year award are the Chicago Headline Club, SPJ Florida — Professional Chapter and the New England Pro Chapter.

The three finalists for the Small Chapter of the Year award are the Indiana Pro Chapter, the Greater Cincinnati Pro Chapter and the St. Louis Pro Chapter.

"There is an incredible amount of inspiring work being done by our SPJ chapters across the country," said Chris R. Vaccaro, SPJ Region 1 coordinator and Regional Committee Caucus chair. "The regional coordinators have the pleasure of reviewing entries and are pleased with the level of planning and execution of creative programming from so many chapters. Congratulations to all regional honorees. We're looking forward to honoring national winners at SPJ23."

Winners of Large Chapter of the Year and Small Chapter of the Year will be announced during the Opening Business Meeting at the SPJ23 Journalism Convention in Las Vegas on Sept. 28.
