Society Names Maggan Everidge the Julie Galvan Outstanding Campus Chapter Member

ADAM’S MARK HOTEL, COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Society of Professional Journalists awarded Maggan Everidge the Julie Galvan Outstanding Campus Chapter Member Award.

Everidge, chapter president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was responsible for a recruiting campaign for 60 people.

She will be recognized Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Mark of Excellence Awards Luncheon of the 2000 SPJ National Convention. The banquet will take place from 12:30-2:15 p.m. in the Woody Hayes Grand Ballroom of the Adam’s Mark Hotel, 50 N. Third St.

At the close of the college year, each campus chapter of the Society selects one graduate in journalism who is the outstanding in his or her class on the basis of character, service to the community, scholarship, proficiency in practical journalism and significant contributions to his or her SPJ chapter. From this group, the Society’s leaders select one graduate who is considered most outstanding for national recognition.
