SPJ announces outstanding campus chapter and program regional honorees

INDIANAPOLIS — The Society of Professional Journalists is pleased to honor a select group of campus chapters for their outstanding work in supporting the Society’s missions, members and journalism.

Each year, SPJ’s 12 regional coordinators and directors select a campus chapter and a campus program in their region that has shown overall excellence.

Outstanding Campus Chapter finalists are:
Region 1 – William Paterson University
Region 2 – George Mason University
Region 3 – University of Georgia
Region 4 – Ohio University
Region 5 – Northern Kentucky University
Region 6 – Minnesota State-Moorhead
Region 7 – N/A
Region 8 – University of Oklahoma
Region 9 – N/A
Region 10 – University of Idaho
Region 11 – University of Arizona
Region 12 – Lipscomb University

Campus Program of the Year finalists are:
Region 1 – Ithaca University, public information officers from colleges and county facilities
Region 2 – University of Maryland, sales of T-shirts to benefit Capital Gazette families and newsroom
Region 3 – N/A
Region 4 – Ohio University, self-care
Region 5 – Eastern Kentucky University, First Amendment Week
Region 6 – N/A
Region 7 – N/A
Region 8 – Texas State University, trauma and journalism
Region 9 – N/A
Region 10 – University of Idaho, NPR war correspondents
Region 11 – California State University-Sacramento, immigrants and refugees
Region 12 – Harding University, teaching the First Amendment to elementary students
